Odd Bits - Poor show, I'm sorry
Written by Richard Smith
Tuesday, 03 February 2009

Will I every recover from this Man Flu? Anyway thats the reason for the lack of new stuff on this site over the weekend .

Whilst I try to catch up things are likely to be patchy. Especially with the technical stuff. (Sorry I know that the technical section is the most popular by far).

Hopefully things will return to normal......................eventually lol.

Please bear with me, next weeks technical article is about creating a personal website. (If all goes to plan).

Odd Bits - Well I was organised
Written by Richard Smith
Wednesday, 28 January 2009

Well I was organised. I managed to queue up enough content to have something new on this site every day but the contents now run out.

I was going to make sure this wouldn't happen but due to been busy and at the moment been ill it hasn't quite worked out. Hopefully I will get a chance to queue up some new content tomorrow.

Photography - What part of film don't people understand?

What part of film don't people understand?

Nope this isn't a question I'm asking but one that appeared on the Ken Rockwell site on the 2nd of January 2008.

I like Ken Rockwell's website, it contains lots of useful information but I believe he will be pushing harder the use of film over digital during 2009.

Photography - Lomography
Written by Richard Smith
Monday, 26 January 2009

Another entry with this title. It's not a double post.

Again I'm not going to explain what Lomography is per say. There are enough sites around that will explain it.

This is more about my personal take, there is no need to take what I say as gospel, actually I actively dis-courage it.

There is something I like about Lomography, it's not the fact you shoot from the hip or that it seems to be a marketing gimic to sell toy camera's for hundreds of pounds. (Honestly I do try to compose my photos). It's the fact that it's less about technical performance and more about art.

Technical - pfSense router
Written by Richard Smith
Friday, 23 January 2009

pfSense is a distribution that turns a normal x86 PC into a router. (FreeBSD based). OK sounds like IPCOP? In a sense yes but pfSense gives you more configuration control from the web GUI.

Try it for yourself by heading over to http://www.pfsense.org/ where your able to download the install ISO and find the install documentation.
