Photography - Noooooo Screen Calibration Issue
Written by Richard Smith
Wednesday, 24 December 2008

I have recently found that the screen I have being using for post processing recently is not displaying colours to accurately. I will have to get this sorted but this is the reason why the colours on some of the photos look.....well.....wrong.

Photography - Pictures from the BumbleHole
Written by Richard Smith
Wednesday, 17 December 2008

I went to the Bumble hole and nobody tried to mug me for my camera. Just as well as I didn't want to be arrested for drowning someone.

Even though the weather was awful, visability was poor and the ground was very very mushy I still decided to press on and take some pictures.

Can be found here.

Or by clicking on this thumbnail:

I used a Nikon D700 and a Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 Lens. I would have preferred to have bought wellies with me and maybe a nicer lens. (But the Sigma is fairly light and compact for a 24-70mm F/2.8). The same could have been done with any camera but with mixed results. Because of the low light I believe any compact camera or camera phone would have trouble.

Photography - The Macro Photography Project
Written by Richard Smith
Wednesday, 17 December 2008

In an attempt to increase the amount of photography I do in the little time I have available I have started a Macro Photography Project.

The first lot can be found here.

Or by clicking this thumbnail:

These were taken using a Nikon D700 and a Sigma 70-300mm Lens. I used a Tripod (Velbon Maxi 347GB I think) and a remote release. (Cheap crappy but works chinese effort).

A Nikon 105mm F/2.8 would have been useful but results could have probably been achieved using a Nikon D40, Sigma 70-300mm lens, a cheaper Tripod and a very cheap chinese IR Remote. Total cost would be about £350 - £370 for that equipment.

A random shot out of an office window at Canary Wharf. Not to exciting to be honest.

Photography - Taking photos of the moon
Written by Richard Smith
Wednesday, 17 December 2008

Back on the 15th of September (and the 18th) I was taking pictures of the moon. (Yes I know I'm very quick and punctual).

I wasn't liking the results I was getting from the camera's recommended meter settings so I switched to manual and experimented.
